Energy Generation while Protecting the Planet

CPS Energy is undergoing a process of identifying future forms of power generation. This document is intended to breakdown the identified sources that CPS Energy is pursuing. Climate justice organizers have been on the ground to ensure this process is public and accessible to ratepayers. While there are sessions scheduled, no breakdown has been publicly shared on what the proposed plans are, resulting in a disconnection in how ratepayers engage with the plans.

This document was organized by Southwest Workers Union, with the collaboration of Climate Justice San Antonio member Public Citizen. Special Thanks to Indigenous Environmental Network, Indigenous Climate Action, Just Transition Alliance, and Movement Generation for developing Hoodwinked in the Hothouse, a booklet that was used to develop this document.

Southwest Workers Union values the Environmental Justice Principle “We Speak for Ourselves.” Thus this primer is created to empower ratepayers to learn and participate in the discussions about energy generation for San Antonio.
