A Look Back at August-October in the Garden 2022

During this time we started hosting a series of community events called Sowin' Circles where we made seed starters and talked with community members about what they would like to see in the upcoming, new Roots of Change space. Many people spoke about wanting a safe, green space to enjoy. They also told of various plants and crops they'd like us to grow. In October, Southwest Workers Union (SWU) staff and community volunteers had a Garden Blitz where we created a new garden space in front of our temporary work trailer while we wait for construction to begin on the building. We used 12 plastic storage bins and metal hexagon shaped raised beds to plant medicinal herbs, winter greens, marigolds, and zinnias.
