Seed Bombs
We recently had a few classes and demonstrations on how to make and use seed bombs. We chose a recipe that used equal parts clay powder, soil, and a wildflower mix of seeds with water added to blend everything together. The clay powder we used is available at Walmart and other grocery stores in the beauty dept and is called "Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay." We chose this clay powder because it was easy to find and has a low price point, hopefully making it more accessible to use.
The first demo was held at our monthly community day in April and we were able to make and give out about 20 seed bombs to community members while speaking about the importance of using native plants in our landscaping choices. We also held a class with the Trabajadoras during one of their weekly círculo de abuela sessions where we were able to make another 20 or so seed bombs and give them to the workers.
Seed Bomb recipe:
-Equal parts clay powder, soil, and wildflower seeds
-enough water to bind everything together
combine all ingredients in a bowl until a dough like consistency is formed. Roll into balls and place on a tray to air dry for 1-2 days. When balls are ready, throw them into empty fields, along trails, etc.
