Now Hiring: Administrative Assistant

Contractor shall provide administrative assistance, and offer organizational skills and support for the Board of Directors for Centro por la Justicia and Southwest Public Workers Union. Centro - SPWU is an organization that works towards leadership of a member body developed from low income/poor, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color including White People with multiple generations and international backgrounds.

Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

  • Sending Email, Text and Phone Reminders to board members and other invited parties. Reminders will include relevant information or materials, meeting information.

  • Record tracking such as notes, decisions, photos, files and other documents using dropbox and google drive

  • Prepare and give short presentations on research identified and relevant to the board of directors.

  • Scheduling and Coordinating Meetings (booking location, set up of room, zoom coordination, ordering food, distribution of materials etc.)

  • Manage board schedule

  • Any other tasks needed to ensure a smooth and productive meeting

  • Maintain confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • Writing and Laying out Documents

  • Clear, Friendly, and Verbal Communication Skills

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Be reliable and discrete

  • Ability to prepare and present information

  • Information and Communication Technology Skills (ICT)

  • English and Spanish Language Preferred

  • 3 - 5 years experience interacting or engaging with the Board of Directors.

  • Understanding of by laws, Non - Profit governance systems, hand books, and other procedural systems.

  • Time Management

  • Understanding of social justice, liberation, democratic leadership

  • Deep respect for creating spaces that uplift shared leadership and liberation for Femme, Trans & Non Binary leadership, LGBTQIA+ and youth.

Contractor rates will start at $20 per hour and offers will be adjusted based on experience. This position was allocated 100 hours, as needed throughout 6 months starting the third week of May. This position has the possibility of extension.

The board of directors generally meets on Saturday Mornings or Evenings in person or over zoom. Board work for the next 6 month includes updating and managing bylaws, and is tasked with adding new members.
