November 9th Member meeting recap

We held our last member meeting of 2024 this past Saturday on November 9th. We had about 20 members show up and together we discussed the election results and discussed how another Trump presidency will affect us as community members, workers, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled people, elders, etc etc. Many of our members wanted to get right to work so we followed their lead and jumped into some “Dot Democracy” and used stickers to vote on the top 3 topics we felt were most important. While every topic is an important topic, we settled on Immigration Justice, Environmental Justice, and Economic Justice for this meeting.

Many members expressed wanting more transitional resources for immigrants arriving to the US so that they could get settled, find work, and join community. Other topics that came up included: wanting to stop another CPS rate hike, better wages for workers across the board, and wanting stricter compliance codes written for metal and used auto part recycling plants.

Our member’s input helps guide our work and helps us know what to focus on in the upcoming year so we’re thankful for a good turnout.

If you’d like to join us in this important work, send us an email at info@swunion.org!
