Live Stream Rooted In Justice this Friday (April 11th)!

Rooted In Justice: An Environmental Justice Town Hall is this Friday, April 11, 2025 from 6-8pm at The Little Carver (226 N Hackberry). This is a free, nonpartisan event, that is open to the public. You can RSVP here. This event is co-sponsored by: Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, Society of Native Nations, Deceleration News, The Wild Farm, Mothers Rebellion, Move Texas, Public Citizen, Gardopia Gardens, Fuerza Unidas, and Climate Justice San Antonio.

If you are unable to attend in person, we have partnered with Deceleration News to live stream on Facebook and YouTube. There will be 4 primer questions asked to all the candidates followed by questions pulled from the in person audience and also the live stream audience.

Primer Questions:

1) City council approved the San Antonio Climate Action and Adaptation Plan in 2019. The plan is supposed to be updated this year. As mayor, how would you ensure the city continues to implement strategies to help mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis and protect residents?

2) The three biggest greenhouse emitters in SA are: building energy use, transportation, and industrial processes. Would you please discuss your plan to address/mitigate any one of these emissions sources?

3) San Antonio’s extreme weather, from colder winters to record heat, disproportionately harms vulnerable communities like low-income families, seniors on fixed income, and outdoor workers. Yet the city doesn’t track or report weather-related deaths. Southwest Workers Union is calling on elected officials to direct Metro Health, to collaborate with the Medical Examiner’s Office, and first responders to create a system to track weather related fatalities and create a public dashboard for transparency. If elected, how will you ensure this data is collected and shared? What steps will you take to direct resources to those most at risk?

4) Public Transportation: To reduce traffic congestion, air pollution, and to improve quality of life by making the city accessible to all, how will you implement more multi model transportation?
